Philosophy and Goals

Philosophy

The faculty of John Q. Adams Middle School is committed to providing a quality academic education to students in the middle years.  We provide an environment of encouragement, and stimulation, while at the same time try to remediate weaknesses to the fullest extent possible.  We strive to address individual differences and implement "best practices", including the integration of technology with instruction.

Although our primary task is academic readiness for high school, we also stress development of personal attitudes and real life skills in order to prepare our students for success in a democratic society.  Adams welcomes and encourages support from families, businesses, places of worship, and organizations in our quest to provide strong educational opportunity for all students.

In addition, we recognize that students' health, social, and psychological needs are important to achieving academic success.  These needs, therefore, are looked after by faculty and staff and are part of the scope of the challenge.  Similarly, Adams provides an opportunity for students to explore extra-curricular activities and athletics in an effort to address the interests and abilities of all our students.

The middle school years are crucial years of growth and development as our students move from childhood to adolescence.  The faculty, staff, and administration of Adams have chosen to accept the special challenge to educate students of this age.  It is a challenge we willingly embrace with enthusiasm.
